How to Fix Missing Tumblr Buttons | HTML Tutorial

You might have experienced the like and reblog buttons disappearing on other blogs, or the edit and delete buttons on your own.

This tutorial can help you get the buttons back – in some cases.

Before you do this try refreshing (F5) the page and see if the buttons show up. If not, continue

The following tutorial will show you how to get your Tumblr control buttons back

Go to customize on your blog – edit HTML

Search (CTRL+F/CMD+F) for the “<body>“-tag and insert the following text right after it

<iframe scrolling="no" frameborder="0" id="tumblr_controls" src="{block:PermalinkPage}post%2f{PostID}{/block:PermalinkPage}{block:IndexPage}page%2F{CurrentPage}{/block:IndexPage}&{block:PermalinkPage}pid={PostID}{/block:PermalinkPage}&rk=bgGiB47i&lang=en_US&name={Title}" style="position: fixed;z-index:1337;top:0px;right:0px;border:0px;background-color:transparent;overflow:hidden;width: 330px;height: 25px;"></iframe>

Remember to replace YOUR-URL-HERE with your url/username

Afterwards search for the “</style>“-tag and insert the following right before it

iframe#tumblr_controls {
top: 0% !important;
right:0% !important;
position: fixed !important;

Click “Update preview” then “Save”

save and update preview tumblr buttons

Everything should now be working properly – just go to the permalink of one of your blog posts and see if the buttons are there.

If the buttons still don’t show up, it’s likely that there’s some javascript that’s messing with the buttons or that it’s a browser related issue – and you might have to change your theme to get the buttons back.
