March in a Post

Hi again! Am I the only one who’s so happy spring is finally here? Although I’m currently stressing about upcoming exams, I’m actually excited about April. I can’t wait to see what it will bring!

The ending of one month and start of a new seems like the perfect time to take stock of the situation, and reflect on the past month. And if other people are doing it, I’m bound to join the bandwagon… eventually.

Life Report

When I asked on Twitter what kind of monthly recap you wanted to see, the votes where split between the blog traffic report and just a general life report. So here’s a bit of both. Although I have realized, I don’t feel inspired to write about my life at the moment. It’s not very exciting, I’m still recovering from a severe depression. Right now the highlights are more like ‘didn’t feel like shit doing normal human stuff‘, it’s the little moments where I spend time with my family and boyfriend, watch a good show or blogging goes well. It’s not exciting to read about nor write about. But I like the way my life is going right now, and that’s what matters.

Blog Report

I’m not sharing my blog stats to brag (obviously) – you can find 100,000 blog traffic reports from bloggers who get over 100,000 pageviews a month. I’m doing this because I find it extremely interesting to learn what strategies work and which doesn’t from other bloggers (maybe I’m just nosey) – and that’s what I want you to take away from this: A look behind the scenes of my blog, a look into how I try to become a better blogger and hopefully learn something you can use yourself too.

March Blog Traffic

I have only been able to track my blog stats with Google Analytics since my move late February, and I was nervous moving away from WordPress.com would cause a dip in traffic – since it was a big traffic source. And I did see a dip in traffic at first – but overall I’ve had 3,000 more views this month, so it’s not that much of a loss.

The top refers to my blog is not that different from past months – except Google, so I’m excited to see my blog is starting to show up in searches.

What I’ve been doing this month

  • After discovering Melyssa from The Nectar Collective, I’ve been inspired to join Pinterest
  • I’ve spend worked on creating pinterest friendly graphics, adding a few of them to the bottom of my posts. I’ve also been joining some group boards as a way to reach more pinners.
    • I’ve yet to see the result of this, as it takes some time to get going. But confident it will pay of in the end (hopefully)
  • I made a little experiment with Bloglovin’ and I’m already seeing an increase in traffic from the site – it just goes to prove my point from the post.
  • There’s an increase in traffic from Facebook, which is not from my FB page but a couple of blogging groups I’ve joined on there.
  • I’ve had an internal debate over whether I need to narrow what I post about – you know, finding my niche, following my heart and all that jazz.
    • When I look at my most popular posts, there’s still a good mix of categories – personal, fitness and blogging. So I guess the debate will continue

What I’ll do different next month

Honestly, I’ll be happy just to keep up with this months stats. Next month is going to be tough uni-wise, so I’ll have to give studying blogging a lower priority. I want to continue to post frequently on here, post to Instagram, and the rest if I have time.

What do you think of this type of recap? I’d absolutely love to hear your feedback in the comments!
