(yes that last part was Baymax)
On this blog I offer my personal views on a healthy lifestyle. Any advice is based on personal experience, opinions, and research – it shouldn’t be considered medical advice.
The author of this site encourages you to consult a doctor before making any health changes, especially any changes related to a specific diagnosis or condition. No information on this site should be relied upon to determine diet, make a medical diagnosis, or determine treatment for a medical condition. The information on this website is not intended to replace a one-on-one relationship with a qualified health care professional and is not intended as medical advice.
If you attempt any workout provided by this blog, you’re doing so at your own risk.
All images and text on my blog belong to me unless otherwise stated, and may only be used with my permission.
Embedded posts (from twitter, instagram, vine, youtube, giphy etc.) belong to the original poster.
This one gets its own special little header, because transparency is very important to me.
All posts will always be 100% my own honest opinion and text. I don’t accept guest posts or pre-written content by brands – but you might see a guest post from a blogging friend once in awhile. I don’t agree to do sponsored posts where I have to give up editorial control (meaning I always have the final say in what I do and don’t write in a blog post).
When a post contains products I receive for free* to possibly feature on the blog, I will refer to them as so (marking them ‘PR sample’, ‘gifts from’, ‘courtesy of’ or ‘c/o’). When it comes to posts with gifted items, I am not paid for the time and effort that goes into creating the content. I will always disclose when a post is sponsored as well or in someway made in collaboration with a brand to maintain an honest relationship with you, my readers.
I only agree to write about products/services I like, fits the blog and can bring value to you, my readers. I’d never pretend to like something just to earn a few $. My blog is my baby and I want to take good care of it – I don’t want to waste time writing about something I don’t enjoy and you don’t want to read.
That’s why I actually decline about 90% of offers that come my way. If there’s something I know I’m not going to like or don’t align with my values, I won’t accept it for a review.
- And endless amount of detox tea
- Companies selling “Superfoods” (the only thing super about superfoods is their PR)
- Hair conditioner
- “Natural” hair colour products
- Fashion/clothing brands (and even more beauty brands)
- Intimate hygiejne products
- Protein/supplements companies looking for “brand reps” – but they’re actually MLMs (you must get these all the time on Instagram too)
- …As well as those “diet” companies that are bascially pyramid schemes.
- A weird thing to put over a car seat when you’re sweaty (very useful for someone without a car)
- So many beauty products (from brands who definitely haven’t bothered to look at my blog)
Not to mention a long list of Instagram contests, people who want to sell me followers on Instagram and Bloglovin’ and other stuff that’s just flat out spam.
*Sometimes I decline offers because I know I don’t have time to review and write about them. Sometimes because the company has very high demands with unreasonably low compensation. Sometimes I decline “gifts” because Danish tax laws means I have to pay ~40% of the gifts’ value in taxes, so I really can’t afford to work for “free” or to accept everything.
I always decline when brands ask me whether I’m okay with not disclosing sponsored posts or include do-follow links (it’s a SEO-thing, it helps web sites who up higher in Google searches, but it’s against Google’s policies to use do-follow links in sponsored posts, so I don’t).
It’s important for me that collaborations are a win-win-win situation: For you, me and the brand – I want to provide value for everyone. It might surprise you, but there’s a lot of work involved in running a blog – sponsored posts are a way brands compensate a blogger for the time and work they put into writing, photography and promoting a post – not paying a blogger to lie. I mean, everything here is available to you completely free. Not to mention that servers, hosting and other tools that’s necessary to keep the blog running are costly. I hope this can help you see things from my perspective.
Affiliate links are sometimes incorporated into posts to monetize links. With affiliate links, I get a tiny % if you decide to purchase something through an affiliate link on my site and if you’re from a country that’s included in the affiliate program. The products do not cost more with affiliate links, and it’s completely up to you if you want to buy a product I mention on this site. I’m not paid to place affiliate links, I’m signing up for these programs on my own accord – and therefore only choose to link to content that I adore and would recommend anyway. I also join affiliate programs because in some cases that allow me to share the shop’s images without breaking copyright laws.
There are a few bloggers who gives all of us a bad rep. I’m just as much a blog reader as a blogger, and I know it’s essential that you can trust the blogger when it comes to working with brands.
If you ever have a question about any of this, or feel like I’m not being transparent enough, please contact me.
While I’m not a big fan of link dropping in comments I will allow them IF the comment is relevant to the post or the discussion. If your comment is only a link, or says something like ‘nice post – here is my blog’ etc it will be treated as comment spam. I’m the judge of what is and isn’t spam. The best thing you can do is keep your comments helpful, engaging and on topic and you won’t have a problem. I use ‘no follow’ tags in comments anyway – so you will not benefit in a SEO sense by doing it either legitimately or spammily.
Warning: It’s going to get real boring from this point
